Bburago's 1:18 diecast Ferrari 250 GTO reproduces car #35 in green, reflecting the national racing colours many private customer GTOs carried instead of factory red. Diecast construction with opening doors and bonnet keeps the price accessible. A distinctive alternative to the usual red GTO for a 1960s GT racing shelf.
About the Ferrari 250 GTO #35 Green 1962 Bburago 1:18
TL;DR: Bburago's 1:18 diecast Ferrari 250 GTO reproduces car #35 in green, a livery reflecting the national racing colours many private customer GTOs carried rather than factory red. Mass-market diecast construction with opening doors and bonnet keeps the price accessible. A distinctive alternative to the usual red 250 GTO on a GT racing shelf.
Not every 250 GTO raced in Ferrari red. Most were sold to private teams and gentlemen racers who often ran their national colours instead, and Bburago's #35 in green documents exactly that side of the car's history.
The Same Bburago Diecast Formula, a Different Livery
This GTO shares its construction with any other Bburago 250 GTO in the range: a zinc-alloy body with real shelf weight, opening doors and bonnet on simple diecast hinges, and panel gaps that run wider than premium resin competitors allow. What sets this casting apart is the green finish, applied with the same even gloss Bburago uses across its Ferrari range, and the #35 graphics that mark out a specific period entry rather than a generic road-spec Ferrari. Green is a less forgiving colour to judge than red, since any unevenness in the paint shows more readily under direct light, and this casting holds its tone consistently across the GTO's long bonnet and sloping tail.
Private Ownership and National Racing Colours
Ferrari built the 250 GTO primarily for its customers, not for a factory-only works effort, and most of the 36 cars built went to private teams and wealthy amateur racers who campaigned them across Europe's GT calendar. Many of those owners raced in their home country's traditional colours rather than Ferrari's house red, a period convention that produced a genuinely varied field of GTOs at any given meeting despite their mechanical similarity. That variety is part of what makes the GTO a rewarding subject for a themed diecast shelf: the same three-time Le Mans class-winning underpinnings, dressed in a spread of liveries that tell the story of who actually raced these cars.
A Companion to the Red GTO
Paired with a red-liveried GTO on the same shelf, this green example shows the breadth of period ownership behind Ferrari's most celebrated GT racer, at Bburago's accessible price.
