AUTOart's Diecast Construction of the Sport Quattro

This model is cast in zinc alloy, with the weight and structural rigidity that material provides across a shape as boxy and squared-off as the Sport Quattro's. The doors and bonnet open to reveal the cabin and the turbocharged five-cylinder engine bay, and though an articulated casting runs slightly wider panel gaps than a sealed body, that is a fair compromise for a subject whose engineering is as much the story as its styling. The red paint sits with good depth under direct light, and the boxy wheel arch extensions and shortened rear overhang, the visual signature of the Sport Quattro versus the standard car, are rendered accurately at 1:18. Why the Sport Quattro Exists

Audi shortened the standard Quattro's wheelbase to build the Sport Quattro specifically to satisfy Group B homologation rules, which required a minimum number of road cars to be sold before a competition variant could race.
