About the Ford Capri Mk1 2600 RS Red Black Minichamps 1:18

TL;DR: Minichamps' 1:18 diecast Ford Capri Mk1 2600 RS in Red and Black reproduces Ford's homologation-special Capri, with opening doors, bonnet and boot exposing the tuned V6 detail. This used model's box shows traces of storage, the casting itself intact. A genuine performance-badge Capri subject with racing pedigree.

Ford built the 2600 RS in limited numbers specifically to homologate the Capri for touring car competition, fitting a larger V6 and stiffer suspension than any regular showroom model carried.

Minichamps' Diecast Approach to the 2600 RS

This Capri is a zinc alloy diecast, and the weight in the hand reflects the 2600 RS's reputation as a genuinely more serious proposition than the standard Mk1 range it was based on. Doors, bonnet and boot open, exposing the larger V6 engine bay and the more purposeful cabin trim that separated the RS specification from lesser Capris. Panel gaps run at typical diecast tolerance, a fair trade for the engine access a homologation special like this deserves. The Red and Black scheme carries the sporting intent through the paint itself, with clean, confident colour separation under direct light. As a used piece, the box shows the traces of storage stated on the listing; the casting itself presents the livery cleanly.

A Homologation Special Among Capri Subjects

Homologation specials occupy a genuinely different tier of interest to standard road-car variants, since their entire existence traces back to competition regulations rather than showroom demand, and the 2600 RS is a strong early example of that approach within Ford's range. Displayed beside a standard 1700 GT Capri, the larger V6 and stiffer stance become obvious by direct comparison, telling the RS's story more clearly than a specification sheet could. The opening bodywork matters here specifically because the V6 engine bay is the entire point of the 2600 RS badge, and a raised bonnet lets a collector confirm that detail for themselves.
