About the Smart Forfour White Kyosho 1:18

TL;DR: Kyosho's 1:18 diecast Smart Forfour reproduces the 2006 white hatchback, the brand's first genuine four-seat model built on shared platform engineering rather than Smart's own tiny city-car format. A practical Urban Runabouts piece for a compact-car or city-car display.

Smart made its name with the tiny two-seat Fortwo. The Forfour asked a harder question: could the brand build something a family could actually use.

Capturing a Conventional Hatchback Shape at 1:18

Unlike the Fortwo's distinctive Tridion safety cell, the Forfour presents a more conventional five-door hatchback profile, and Kyosho's diecast handles that shape with the clean, straightforward panel work a mainstream hatchback calls for. The white finish is even and undramatic, appropriate for a car whose appeal was always practicality over visual flair. Diecast construction gives the model reasonable heft for its compact size, and the proportions capture the slightly upright stance the Forfour used to maximise interior space within a genuinely small footprint. There is less to showcase here than on a sports car, and that is honestly reflective of the source vehicle: a city runabout built for utility, not drama.

An Unusual Chapter in Smart's Model Range

The first-generation Forfour shared its underpinnings with a Mitsubishi supermini and was built at a joint-venture plant in the Netherlands, an unusual arrangement for a brand otherwise associated with its own bespoke two-seat format. That platform-sharing chapter did not last long before Smart returned to its own architecture for later Forfour generations, which makes this early version a specific, fairly short-lived moment in the brand's history. For a city-car or European small-car display, it works best paired with a Fortwo from the same period, letting the two model different answers to the same brand's compact-car brief.
