The MG Metro 6R4 was Britain's answer to the four-wheel-drive Group B revolution, a small hatchback transformed with a bespoke V6 and box-flared arches that made it look nothing like the shopping-trolley Metro it borrowed its name from.

Capturing the 6R4's Box-Arch Bodywork in Diecast

The 6R4's transformation from road-going Metro to Group B monster is largely a story of bodywork, and this is where a zinc alloy one-piece casting does real work. The box-section arch extensions, the vented bonnet louvres and the rear-mounted intercooler scoops all need crisp, defined edges to read correctly at this scale, and diecast tooling holds those lines tighter than a softer material would manage on such an angular shape.
