About the Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Coupe Lightweight Dark Grey AUTOart 1:18

TL;DR: AUTOart's 1:18 diecast Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Lightweight coupe in dark grey has opening doors and bonnet, showing off cabin and straight-six detail. This used example arrives with a box showing traces of storage; the model itself is intact. A faithful replica of one of Jaguar's rarest road-racers.

The Lightweight E-Type was Jaguar's stripped-back competition answer to Ferrari and Aston Martin on the circuit, built in tiny numbers with aluminium panels over the standard coupe's already-celebrated shape.

AUTOart's Diecast Detailing and Opening Panels

AUTOart has long built a reputation for tight diecast tolerances, and this E-Type shows why: the door and bonnet shut lines close evenly despite the hinges beneath them, a harder engineering feat than a sealed body ever requires. Lifting the long bonnet reveals a detailed straight-six engine bay, correctly proportioned and finished to read convincingly under close inspection, while the doors open to a cabin trimmed with period-correct instrumentation. The dark grey finish, evoking the Lightweight's stripped, race-ready character, carries genuine depth under direct light, and the wire wheels are rendered with fine, distinct spokes rather than a moulded approximation. As a used piece, this example has had prior handling; the box shows traces of storage while the diecast itself carries no equivalent wear.

The Lightweight's Rarity and Collecting Context

Jaguar built only a handful of genuine Lightweight E-Types, making surviving originals essentially unattainable and turning a well-detailed 1:18 replica into the realistic way most enthusiasts will ever examine the car's aluminium bodywork up close. At roughly 24cm, the coupe holds real presence on a shelf of period British sports cars, and its opening panels reward the kind of close handling that a Vintage Classics collection is built around. Displayed beside standard-production E-Types, this Lightweight variant tells the fuller story of Jaguar's competition ambitions during the 1960s.
