TL;DR: MCG's 1:18 diecast Skoda 1000 MB in grey and white reproduces the rear-engined 1964 Czechoslovak saloon. New model, sealed one-piece body, boxed fresh. A rare Eastern Bloc subject for collectors who look beyond the usual Western marques.

The 1000 MB put the engine over the rear axle in the manner of a Renault Dauphine or early Fiat, and it became the ordinary family saloon across Czechoslovakia through the 1960s.

Diecast Construction on a Rare Sealed Body

MCG has built this as a fixed one-piece diecast shell, so there are no doors or bonnet to open, and the whole account of the model plays out on the outside of the body. That works in the Skoda's favour: its slab-sided proportions and slim chrome trim depend on continuous, unbroken lines to read correctly, and a sealed casting holds those shut lines and window surrounds tighter than an articulated body would manage. The grey-and-white two-tone is a period-correct combination for the model, and the zinc alloy shell gives the compact saloon real weight for its modest size, a detail that registers the moment it is lifted from the box.
