About the Munsters Dragula Movie Car Joyride 1:18

TL;DR: Joyride's 1:18 diecast Dragula recreates the coffin-bodied dragster built by George Barris for The Munsters. Its exposed dragster chassis and coffin-shaped body make it a genuinely striking custom car subject, distinct from the show's more famous Koach and equally suited to a Hollywood custom collection.

Where the Koach played the family carriage, Dragula was built purely for speed, a dragster with a coffin sitting where a normal car's body would go.

Diecast Detail on an Exposed Dragster Frame

Dragula's construction exposes far more mechanical structure than the Koach, with a visible dragster chassis running beneath the coffin-shaped centre section, and Joyride's diecast build needs to render that skeletal frame accurately since there is comparatively little bodywork to hide behind. The coffin shape itself, mounted where a driver's cabin would normally sit, is the vehicle's entire visual joke, and getting its proportions and lid detailing correct is what separates a faithful reproduction from a generic hot-rod shape. Barris built the vehicle around genuine dragster mechanicals, so the model's lower, more exposed stance correctly reflects a machine built for straight-line speed rather than everyday driving.

A Second Barris Build From the Same Television Series

Barris supplied both of The Munsters' signature vehicles, and having built the elaborate Koach first, Dragula gave him room to go in an entirely different direction, stripped-down and speed-focused rather than ornate and carriage-like. That contrast is exactly why the two vehicles work so well displayed together: they demonstrate the same builder's range within a single television series. For a collector already holding the Koach, or simply building a Hollywood custom car theme, Dragula supplies genuine variety rather than a second version of the same idea.
