About the Hummer HX Concept Green Maisto 1:18

TL;DR: Maisto's 1:18 diecast Hummer HX Concept reproduces GM's 2008 show car in green, with opening features over rugged off-road styling. Revealed as a smaller, lighter direction for the Hummer brand shortly before GM's financial troubles, the HX never reached production, making this diecast one of the few ways to own it in miniature.

GM used the HX Concept to test whether Hummer could shrink without losing its off-road identity, unveiling the show car not long before the brand's financial troubles began. Maisto's diecast preserves that unbuilt idea in green.

Maisto's Diecast Treatment of an Unbuilt Concept

Maisto has long produced affordable diecast versions of concept and show cars alongside its production-model range, and the HX fits neatly into that side of the catalogue. The body is diecast metal with a proper sense of weight, styled around the chunky wheel arches, exposed roll-bar hints and stacked lighting that made the real concept look purposeful rather than decorative. Opening doors and bonnet reveal a simplified cabin, in keeping with the model's entry-level position, and the green paint reads clearly against the black off-road trim pieces around the bumpers and sills. Tyre tread and ride height are exaggerated slightly for visual effect, a common and reasonable choice for concept-vehicle diecast where the real car's exact proportions were never finalised for production anyway.

A Hummer That Never Reached Production

General Motors revealed the HX Concept in 2008 as a signal that Hummer might move toward smaller, more efficient vehicles without abandoning the brand's off-road reputation, at a moment when fuel prices and changing tastes were already putting pressure on large SUVs. The timing proved unfortunate: GM's broader financial crisis followed within months, and Hummer as a brand was wound down by 2010 rather than developed further. That means the HX never became a showroom reality, and this diecast stands as one of the few tangible records of a direction General Motors considered but abandoned. It sits well alongside other abandoned concept diecast rather than beside production Hummers, and that unfinished story is exactly the appeal for collectors who look beyond production history.
