About the Mercedes 500 SLC C107 Brown KK-Scale 1:18

TL;DR: KK-Scale's 1:18 diecast Mercedes 500 SLC C107 reproduces the long-wheelbase grand tourer in brown, cast as a fixed one-piece body. This is a used model, and the box shows traces of storage while the model itself is unaffected. A period-correct coupe subject for Mercedes collectors.

The C107 SLC stretched the SL roadster's platform into a proper four-seat coupe, giving Mercedes a grand tourer with genuine motorsport pedigree from its rally-winning years. KK-Scale's diecast preserves that clean, understated shape faithfully.

Diecast Build and the Sealed Body of the 500 SLC

The zinc-alloy body gives this SLC genuine heft, appropriate for a car whose long bonnet and stretched roofline demanded a substantial-feeling platform in the metal too. With the panels fixed, the model's entire presentation rests on its exterior: the long, unbroken waistline, the SLC's distinctive rear quarter windows, and the crisp shutlines around the boot and doors, all held tighter than a hinged construction could easily achieve. The brown paint sits with genuine depth across the coupe's long flat panels, a colour that suits the SLC's understated, executive-grand-tourer character better than a brighter shade would. This is a used example, and the box shows traces of storage, the ordinary wear a carton picks up over years on a shelf; the casting itself carries no such marks.

The SLC's Place in Mercedes Coupe History

Built on the SL roadster's underpinnings but stretched for four seats, the SLC gave Mercedes a genuine grand tourer through the 1970s and into the early 1980s, and versions of it competed successfully in international rallying, an unusual pedigree for what looked like a purely executive coupe.

Where the 500 SLC Fits a Mercedes Coupe Shelf

Alongside the SL roadster it shares its platform with, the SLC demonstrates Mercedes' engineering flexibility during the C107 era. Its sealed body needs nothing beyond occasional dusting, and the long panels reward gentle handling to keep the finish pristine.
