About the Audi 80 B2 GTE White MCG 1:18

TL;DR: MCG's 1:18 diecast Audi 80 B2 GTE in white reproduces the sportier GTE trim of Audi's compact late-1970s saloon, distinguished from the standard 80 by subtle performance-oriented styling touches. Diecast construction suits a vintage German saloon shelf looking beyond the base model.

GTE badging on a 1970s Audi signalled a step up in intent, if not always dramatic transformation, and this white 80 B2 wears that distinction with the understatement the era demanded.

A Sportier Trim on a Familiar Saloon Body

The GTE's trim differences from a standard 80 B2 tend to sit in details rather than silhouette, so this model's value lies in getting those specifics right, badge placement, wheel design, and any characteristic striping the trim carried. White paint keeps the focus on shape and detail rather than colour drama, applied evenly across the saloon's straight-edged bodywork. Diecast weight is consistent throughout, and panel gaps fall within reasonable expectations for the mid-tier this manufacturer targets. This is a subject for collectors who already know the base 80 and want the specific sporting variant rather than a generic period saloon.

The GTE's Place Within the 80 B2 Range

Audi used GTE and similar sporting designations across several model lines through the 1970s and 1980s to signal a firmer, more engaged driving character within an otherwise conservative range. The 80 GTE fits that pattern, offering enthusiasts a slightly more spirited alternative without straying from the saloon's practical, everyday format.

Set beside a standard 80, this GTE variant rewards the closer look its trim differences were designed to earn.
