About the Mercedes C-Class W204 Obsidian Black AUTOart 1:18

TL;DR: This AUTOart 1:18 diecast reproduces the Mercedes C-Class W204 saloon in Obsidian Black, dated to 2009. It represents AUTOart's detail-forward approach to a mainstream premium sedan rather than a limited motorsport subject.

The W204 was a genuine sales success for Mercedes-Benz, and AUTOart treats it with the same care the manufacturer usually reserves for far more exotic subjects.

AUTOart's Detail Standard on a Family Saloon

AUTOart has built its reputation on tight panel gaps and opening features that hold their position rather than sagging over time, and this C-Class benefits from that same attention despite being a saloon rather than a supercar. Doors, bonnet and boot open on hinges with real resistance, revealing a properly detailed engine bay and interior rather than a blanked-off void, a level of finish more often reserved for flagship models. Obsidian Black is a demanding colour to cast well, since flat panels show every inconsistency in a dark gloss finish, and the depth here holds up under direct light without the paint reading patchy across the bonnet and roof. It is proof that a mainstream saloon subject does not have to mean a mainstream level of execution.

An Everyday Saloon Built to a High Standard

The W204 generation moved the C-Class further upmarket in both engineering and perceived quality, and this diecast reflects that shift rather than treating the car as a budget subject. It anchors a Mercedes range display well, sitting between smaller compacts and larger S-Class flagships, and its opening features let it stand comparison with pricier models on the same shelf rather than needing to be tucked away as filler.
